德国斯图加特的中央图书馆
Stuttgart's Refreshingly New Modern LibraryHave you ever seen a library as modern as this? Korean architect Eun Young Yi beat out 235 other proposals to win the honor of designing the new central library in Stuttgart, Germany. The project took three years to complete and costs roughly $108 million. The opening ceremony was held just last month.
Young Yi's design is a large cube featuring nine above ground floors and two basement level floors. Nearly the whole building is completely white, and each outer wall features the word "library" in four different languages. The floor plan is left open with all nine floors being connected by stairways. The bookshelves are pushed back into the outer wall of each floor offering a nice open design. Young Yi's design is a wonderfully clean and modern take on a library. Who wouldn't want to study here?
